Work Policy

  1. Treat your study apprenticeship as a real, 9-5(ish) job.
  2. Work hours are very flexible: e.g., 9-5, 10-6, etc.
  3. All meetings are in-person.
    tip

In this digital age, it's important to have real, 3D interactions.

    • Agustinus' meeting hours are 10-5.
    • Unless an emergency. E.g.:
      • house maintenance crew coming,
      • under the weather (don't infect your coworkers),
      • injury (e.g., ankle sprain), etc.
  4. Be in the office most of the time.
    • Whiteboard discussions with fellow students are very important.
  5. Working from home is totally fine. But don't be a hermit and never show up.
    • No need to ask permissions.
  6. Taking a bit of time off is fine. No permissions needed.
    • E.g., you have chores to do, going to the doctor's office, etc.
    • Even daytrips, e.g., applying for a visa in Toronto, is fine.
  7. For a longer time off, 3+ days, you need explicit permission from Agustinus.
    • University policy: 2 weeks (14 working days) of vacation time per year.
    • Unless you're still working remotely. In this case, no need to use the vacation time; just give Agustinus a heads-up.
      • Expectation: progressing your work, available via Slack, and for meetings during most of the normal Eastern Time working hours.
danger

We trust each other, thus we are very flexible and have a lot of freedom. Unfortunately, flexibility and freedom will go away if trust is abused, even by just a single person.
